Today my baby had her first appointment with Chirovet, Julia, to see how we can help her holistically with her spinal stenosis and arthritis.

I had talked to her about it prior to going, what to expect, how she felt, and continued to during and after the session.

So how did it go with my baby?

Personally, pretty darn good I thought!

I had told her as much as I could about what was happening, but with these new experiences, there is always elements that I cannot predict or know, to be able to show or tell her.

For starters, when we exited the car, she was met by two wet, muddy ponies in their field. She has never seen ponies in her entire life. A rather what-the-hell-is-that moment for her!

Then we entered the consult space which was a bit like a gypsy hut with a great big window, overlooking fields (gorgeous!). Where I live is built up, so no space and green for as far as the eye can see, so again, at first I feel this was a bit overwhelming for her, and then she started to just settle and look.

Observations, Ponies, and Patience!

Julia was wonderful with her. Patient, kind, just observing her to start with, waiting for her to have a look round, and to calm, and she picked up a lot of information just from doing that. I found it mega interesting as well to hear and see what she does and how. I learnt more about Puss which is never a bad thing in my eyes.

As dusk fell, one of the ponies came into the field by the big window so another what-the-heck moment as she saw them rolling around in the mud, but this actually helped distract her and she settled on the carpet just watching this pony, fascinated by her, letting some acupuncture needles do their work.

It was interesting to see that she would really relax, and then freak out at feeling so relaxed, so she would then go and hide. I can understand this on the basis of when we feel relaxed, we often feel out of control, if we don’t do this often due to past trauma, it can feel unsafe, so instantly we then do things to bring it back into our control and feel safe.

But her body expanded and opened, Julia could see it, I could see it. She felt calmer, her behaviour mirrored that. The journey home she was as quiet as a mouse, and as you can see here, she settled in her carrier again when she got home.

Pets Are Our Mirrors

Interestingly, although Julia said she does not have anaemia, there is an energetic deficiency in her spleen whereby it is not being able to send the nutrients to her blood as it should be. Interesting because I was diagnosed with severe anaemia in mid September. Can you see the mirrors now??

It actually pricked my ears up and I came home and did more research on what the spleen does and how the Tradiional Chinese Medicine perspective of it. I also looked up how to flush the spleen meridian for me on Donna Eden’s You Tube channel!

Homeward Bound with Powders and Potential!

She will be having more acupuncture in a few weeks’ time, and we have come home with some chinese herbs to help address these imbalances.

The Cherry on top of the Cake….

When I said to the vet I had told Puss she was coming here and what it was about, oh my goodness, her response took me by surprise, made me smile, aaand feel respected all at the same time!

She said: “And how did she feel about that?”

Just those 7 simple words, but how powerful they were. No querying animal communication, no long silence, no scoffing it, disbelieving it, just ‘how did she feel about that’.

That meant a lot.

I would highly recommend Julia, and in fact, have already referred a friend of mine who needs some acupuncture help for her pet. Very detailed, thorough, and kind.

It also gave me a really good idea for something else I am working on too!

And Puss’ Perspective?

I asked Puss afterwards, as I always do with such experiences, “how did you feel about Julia?”

This is her repsonse:

“I really liked her energy. She was kind to me. She let me take my time and I didn’t get pulled around. It was quite a big deal for me, a lot to see and experience. She was gentle, and calm, and that kept me calm. Everything at my pace. It was a breath of fresh air. I am really looking forward to going back. I don’t like the drive, but the way I felt after, I want that feeling again”

Warms my heart!
