Firework displays will quite likely be happening Saturday or Sunday Night., despite how upsetting it is to our furry friends, wildlife, veterans and other PTSD sufferers too.

So, please remember to keep dogs on leads in the garden and on walks, in case they spook. You may wish to walk them earlier, and for cats keep them in after a certain time. Make sure your garden has no bolt holes or escape routes and if they were mine I would stay outside with them if they needed the loo.

Here’s my tips to help them stay calm too:

Classical FM often play soothing music on New Years Eve to help your pets relax more.

Pet Remedy is a wonderful product to have on queue to wipe under their muzzle, or lay next to them, spray onto their bedding or bandana or a towel, etc. to help them calm. Its main ingredient is Valerian Absolute and that is a known calmer, plus the 3 other essential oils (safe for all pets due to their dilution) which help with stress and anxiety. You can get it from myself (yes I have plenty in stock right now to collect) many leading pet retailers, or your own vets may stock it too.

Remain calm yourself, as pets pick up on how we are feeling too. Telling them they are safe in a high-pitched, stressed voice, feeling angry and frustated will not tell them that at all. They will sense your feelings over your words!

Download the “free Suara Sound Academy Triple OM” track to help relax them with the soothing frequency of the OM: https://www.suarasounds.com/free-download

Shut curtains and have background noise like a TV or radio on to help deaden the sounds.

And if you are someone that is choosing to have a display, please let your neighbours know in good time before the day, so they can prepare and keep their pets or livestock safe and as calm as possible. It’s just courtesy.

Think also of any horse stables nearby or similar that may also need to be informed please too.
