Today i saw a post on a local group.
A missing cat who came home to find his doggie buddy had gone (rainbow bridge).
He then went out they think to find him and hasn’t come back for a couple of weeks.
So today i just took the opportunity to have a compassionate chat with him, told him what happened, that unfortunately he wouldn’t find the dog outside and to come home.
A few hours later, the owners report to have found him.
Coincidence? Who knows, but I’m pleased i could tell him what’s happened to his doggie friend at least.
When a pet passes, please let your other pets see them. They need to know.
They grieve too.
Not just the death of your pet.
But everything about having that pet in the house – relating to food, exercise, water, behaviours, routines, companionship, even neutrality they may have shared between them, etc.
Yes, every pet is different, and some aren’t fussed, some appear to transform because a pet has passed, but no matter what, please do let them know.
Let them, if possible, see the body. Smell the body. Very often I have seen and experienced that they can tell there is no soul in that body now. But, that story is for another post!
